artist's statement

The Humpty Dumpty video installation was a part of the Coal and Ice exhibit, in conjunction with the 2018 San Francisco Climate Change Action Summit. The piece addressed the impact of climate change on our fragile planet. Small children inhabit a tenuous environment constructed of trash, shadows and light. They play, jump and fly, sometimes delighted and other times fearful and confused by the world they're newly experiencing.

   Humpty Dumpty

   Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall
   Humpty Dumpty had a great fall
   All the king's horses and all the king's men
   could not put Humpty together again.

   Now Mother Earth She sit on that wall
   And Mother Earth, she 'bout to fall
   And all of the women and all of the men
   Can't ever put her together again.

   Get woke, people, get woke.
